The Health for Humanity Alliance
The Health for Humanity Alliance will capitalize on Mercy Corps’ expertise in providing basic human services in disaster and conflict areas. The alliance will establish ongoing services using PSI’s expertise in social marketing and long history in the provision of products and education services in reproductive health, water/child survival, malaria, and HIV prevention. Using a unique social entrepreneur model, the HH Alliance will provide lasting social and health impacts through training and equipping Health Spot owners, local franchisees who will provide both immediate disaster response and ongoing basic health services. The local franchisees will be provided with "one laptop per child" type technology to assist them to develop a sustainable small business. Health for Humanity focuses both on preparing disaster prone communities with education and products and also building a long term health infrastructure -progressing from tents, to health kiosks, to clinics and hospitals at the same time supporting a network of Health Spot franchisees. The alliance is based on an open business model which aims to share design and implementation models and intellectual property.
Idea Alliance
Imagine how quickly communities can create lasting solutions to their own needs if they had the E-bay of development projects and the My Space of committed donors at their fingertips? The Idea Alliance sets out to create just that. The idea bank connects powerful individuals to proven solutions. It is a virtual infrastructure to deposit ideas, obtain solutions in the form of successful projects while connecting them to everyday donors and the skilled support of development and business professionals. The project is based on Kiva’s wildly popular and effective business model and Ashoka’s support for social entrepreneurs and is propelled by the large scale networks and expertise EDC and World Learning. By leveraging the strengths of four organizations committed to community empowerment and cutting-edge innovation through individual support it multiplies our social impact to profoundly affect the Millennium Development Goals and change lives.
SOCIAL FRANCHISE PACKAGE: IMPACT ALLIANCE AND FREEDOM FROM HUNGER
The partnership between Freedom From
Hunger(FFH) and Impact Alliance(IA) will make it possible for FFH's
Health Integrated Microfinance program to reach millions of more
people in many more parts of the world, roughly within the same
budget, and will be a prototype for IA's plans to increase the reach
of many NGOs and make it possible for people to benefit from an
organization without the organization's presence required. The
methods to setting up and sustaining FFH's Microfinance, Health and
Education systems will be outlined in a Social Franchise Package sent
to partner organizations, which IA will identify, in many countries
in which FFH is not already working. Delegates from FFH will come to
the sites of their partners to give initial training and keep abreast
of progress and other subsequent effects of their programs. Feedback
from the partner organizations will be taken if indicators and
objectives must change in regards to cultural and geographical
differences though the core substance of improving the health and
wealth of women and their families remains the same. However, FFH
will not need to stay at these sites for periods of years and the
programs can benefit millions of people without their presence and IA
will continue to increase the reach of many more NGOs through Social
Franchising.
