Goals and expected outcomes of intervention:
A statement that defines a shared vision between partners.

Tools or Processes:
1. Cover Story- to encourage possible goal setting through open engagement and excitement.

Process:
  • Ice breaker - twist on "keywords" concept. The "yarn" ice breaker will allow participants to begin feeling comfortable with each other in a non-competitive environment. They will create a yarn of keywords describing their partnership and possible opportunities of collaboration for the future. The final product will be a weaved yarn that connects all participants which can then be placed on the ground and left there to remind participants of what they are aiming towards.
These keywords will then be used to move to the next exercise and create a cover story.
  • COVER STORY: this technique will allow participants to become creative without limits about a future partnership and what it can bring to the SCALE UP program for Dharavi.Facilitation will include asking participants to close their eyes and imagine Dharavi ten years down the road. What would a newspaper headline look like if they came up with a story about their respective organization.Participants would be encouraged to be inspired by a vision and to create a story.
  • Card and Chart - Building on the exercise from the Cover Story, themes will be derived from the stories created. These themes could be further condensed through the card and chard exercise.  Narrowing down to smaller themes would help to lead participants to creating a statement of a shared vision. This exercise could be done repeated if necessary.

Strengths of tool:
reaches different audiences, allows starting from scratch, brainstorming which is needed in order to develop a vision.
Possible way to identity problem and areas of collaboration.
Categorization of issues in order to synthesize.

Challenges:
Participants might not allow themselves to be openly creative. Facilitators must be careful to not be so pushy.

Issues of power :
Working groups made up of 3 reps from each partner organization will be created for the Cover Story.  Reps represent different levels of management from each organization-high, med, low. This will ensure that power differentials are reduced.

Time Span:
One day workshop
approx 12 paricipants - 3 from each organization.
